-LOOKS-
Appearance (100 character minimum): With Jade Harley there are two things you notice right away, her brilliant almost neon green eyes. And I mean those things are almost radioactive looking, but for her they're perfectly normal. And secondly is the large amount of pure black hair that ends up sitting at her waist. When left to handle it herself Jade typically decides to just not which ends in wild hair that hasn’t been brushed for about a week. The only time she'll give it any attention is when she ties it up for both Potions class and when she plays quidditch. Jade has tanned skin which ends up being only slightly darker than Jake’s. And if you stood the two cousins next to each other they’d probably look pretty similar. With her colorful finger reminders, over-sized round glasses, and overly excited grin, plenty things about Jade shouts “small child” but towering at roughly 6” now and with a more athletic build, Jade is hardly a small child. Spending almost four years with her muggle Grandfather and having a naturally bigger build, Jade is built for running through the woods and youth rolling out of trees. Jade’s need for independence and natural curiosity would lead to her living out in the woods forever if not for her overwhelming desire to learn more about the world.

Personality: Jade is to say the least, a quirky person. Much like most other Ravenclaws she is studious and pretty intelligent. And with a hand in both the science world and the magical world she’d love to find a way to combine the two for the better. Always having a new curiosity, Jade likes to explore almost every aspect of life and won't hesitate to try almost any and every opportunity she comes across from daring new activities to strange foods. She tends to take things in stride, not allowing herself to get put down by much. It takes a lot for Jade to lose confidence in herself and when she does she hides it from others. Jade is the master of looking on the bright side of things and only taking life seriously when she has to. For the most part Jade goes about life with the mindset of “Fight and play, play and fight.” That is how Jade rolls, yo.
Background (Why Hogwarts? Childhood? Any connections to other characters?): Jade is a half-blood born to two magical parents in London, England where she spent most of her life. Her parent are both very busy people, one being a journalist and the other working in the Ministry. Life like this Jade ended up being taken to various places of her parent’s work, though mostly she’s taken along on her father’s journalist work, for most of her life. Jade being as curious and energetic as she is was often taught little magic tricks to keep her occupied while her parents worked, this lead to an early start in her magical life.
Once Jade got a bit older she started getting dropped off at her muggle Grandpa’s home for a few days and occasionally a whole week at a time. Here she was introduced to her Grandfather’s eccentric way of living. Considering he lived in a more rural part of England, on the edge of a large forest, Jade was introduced to plenty of outdoors activities. Some of her favorites being hunting, hiking and more generally, exploring. At her Grandpa’s home is also where she acquired Becquerel (or Bec for short). When her Grandpa’s wolfdog Haley gave birth to a small litter of pups he let Jade pick one out and thus she picked out her loyal companion, Bec. Bouncing back and forth from her muggle Grandfather’s home to her wizard parents’ gave Jade a “best of both worlds” sort of deal. She gained a love of potions and transfiguration as well as science and gardening.
By the time her letter from Hogwarts came on her 11th birthday she already had quite a steady knowledge on a couple of her magical interests. At Hogwarts Jade got to officially meet both her cousins, Jake and John, and quickly grew to adore both of them.
Quirks & Et cetera (Anything else you would like to add?): Jade loves to mix her interests of chemistry and gardening with potions and herbology. She’s currently trying to figure out if you can successfully mix the two and get some sort of positive outcome? Karkat is Jade’s current herbology and potions buddy.
When she found out such large dogs weren’t allowed at Hogwarts (for students) she transfigured Bec into a ferret. Like hell is she going anywhere without Bec. Though in the beginning she couldn’t transfigure Bec into a ferret on her own so her parents had to help out. By the beginning of her second year she could transfigure Bec into and out of being a ferret with little to no trouble. She’s a bit of a wiz when it comes to transfiguration and now she wants to figure out a way to only transfigure partially. Jake is her secret test subject since he may or may not know that she is actually studying him. She also loves to question him about being an animagus. Her own attempts to become an animagus though aren’t going too well currently as the process is long, difficult and results are slow.
Jade can be horribly forgetful at times. Thus she keeps a multitude of colorful string reminders on her fingers!
Jade loves to wrestle and thus, in general fight. She is very enthusiastic about it and uses it as a threat all the time, especially towards Jake, Dave and the rest of her friends.
Jade growing up half her life in a wooded area makes her very curious about The Forbidden Forest and thus she’s always bugging people to go with her to explore though she’ll usually just go to Azazel, the Grand Groundskeeper. Most people think her friendship with the strange groundskeeper is odd but she thinks he’s funny and likes to play with his hair. Also Pierre is a really cute goat. She typically brings the goat various snacks from Hogsmeade Village.
Out of all the friends she has at Hogwarts she is probably closest to Dave. She has even deemed herself Dave’s unofficial “protector” since he is a small baby child and needs to be protected. This however is called off whenever their houses are against each other in Quidditch matches. Then she aims the bludger for his face. Same goes for Jake and John though.
Jade knows about Jake and Dirk being animagi, thus she helps cover for them though mostly just Jake as Dave’s job is to take care of Dirk. Thus she typically pretends to have brought two pets to Hogwarts. She especially enjoys carrying Jake like a baby while in his animagus form and also fondly referring to Jake as a furry.
Jade has a great love of all animals. She has a hard time interacting with them although due to her loud and rambunctious personality as it tends to scare most animals off. This is partially (or maybe mostly) the reason why she's thrown herself so into gardening and herbology.
